Comments & Ratings about this product
ITX Small size computers are incredibly easy to install. They have a flat design and are suitable for 65w CPUs. However, it is important to note that if used with 75-80w CPUs, they may experience high temperatures exceeding 75 degrees Celsius.
I have been using one of these in my Core i5 Mini ITX server for over two years now, and it has proven to be reliable even with almost constant use. However, it is not particularly quiet or efficient at cooling, making it less suitable for a media PC or overclocking purposes. Nevertheless, its low profile design allows it to fit perfectly in my small Mini ITX case and on my ASROCK Z77E ITX board, performing similarly to the stock cooler that would not have been compatible. I do wish it had better cooling capabilities to reduce the need for frequent spinning, but unfortunately, there are no options available at this size and price range that offer improved performance.
I purchased this low-profile cooler for a small form build using LGA 775. I needed to replace the stock cooler because it was interfering with the SSD mounting plate. Since I wanted to use old parts and keep costs down, I was looking for something cheap and compact. This cooler met those requirements perfectly.
The mounting mechanism is the same as the Intel stock cooler, which can be a bit tricky but ultimately secures the cooler well. It also comes with pre-applied thermal paste.
In terms of performance, the cooler is nearly silent when the system is idle. However, it isn't as quiet as the Intel stock cooler under load and doesn't perform quite as well either. Under sustained load, temperatures rose close to mid-80s compared to mid-high 70s with the stock cooler. My system has an E6600 processor.
It's important to note that this cooler may struggle with processors above 65W TDP and even then they will run hot. However, considering its price and form factor, this product met my needs and performed as expected.
