The show follows the adventures of James Herriot, a veterinarian in the Yorkshire Dales of England, and his colleagues, Siegfried Farnon and Tristan Farnon. The show is based on the autobiographical books of James Herriot, and follows his life as a vet in the 1930s and 1940s.
The show is full of heartwarming stories of the animals and people of the Yorkshire Dales. From the antics of the local farmers to the medical emergencies of the animals, the show is full of humor and drama. The show also features a wonderful cast of characters, including the eccentric Siegfried and Tristan, the loyal housekeeper Mrs. Hall, and the ever-lovable James Herriot.

I have cherished this series since my childhood, and it remains just as captivating today as it was four decades ago. The stories of animals and people in a simpler era are truly timeless. It is the perfect choice for a cozy day indoors, drawing inspiration from Herriot's exceptional books. Even my own children, who are now adults, adore it.
This box set is not properly organized with colored discs. Instead, it consists of a stack of silver DVDs in one large box, making it difficult to determine what is on each disc. Additionally, two of the discs had scratches and caused a few minutes of content to be missed. Although these issues were not significant enough to warrant returning the set, watching it after all these years brought back nostalgic memories. The content offers a gentle perspective on life.
Our family absolutely loves the original version of this show, it's a firm favorite. We're currently watching from the very first episode and thoroughly enjoying it. It's definitely worth every penny!
