Comments & Ratings about this product
I just finished reading another masterpiece by the late and great McCarthy. This book is not for the faint-hearted, but if you appreciate truly exceptional prose like that of Joyce and Faulkner, then you will love it.
This book is exceptionally well-written by a talented author. The characters, situations, and dialogue are all captivating and possess a unique quality that sets them apart. However, I was unable to complete the book for two reasons. Firstly, it portrays a universe without any moral framework, which conflicts with my personal beliefs. Secondly, as I continued reading, the story became increasingly confusing and seemed to devolve into self-indulgence. Ultimately, reading this book felt like a futile endeavor as it lacked direction and failed to serve any meaningful purpose.
I recently visited the setting for the novel and coincidentally came across a book called Indeh while in Arizona. It offers a different perspective on some of the themes explored in Blood Meridian, focusing on the Apache point of view. Although Blood Meridian portrays extreme violence with unflinching detail, it is remarkably well-written and a book that I anticipate revisiting in the future.
