Comments & Ratings about this product
The comment suggests that the content is lacking in excitement and coherence, indicating it belongs to a bygone era of television. Although I found some enjoyment in it, I don't think I would revisit it.
This TV show is a great example of the experimental era in the late 1960s and early 1970s when color TV was becoming popular. However, it focuses solely on Western civilization and excludes Spanish culture. The BBC even made the presenter drop one of the more analytical programs to save money, as mentioned in the presentation box's sleeve notes. Despite discussing topics like the slave trade and early industrial revolution horrors, many consider this show to be an arrogant representation of Western culture. This led to the BBC's counter-civilization project called Civilisations in 2018, which some may argue was a politically correct effort that didn't live up to its predecessor.
