The D-Link DES-1008D is an Ethernet Fast Ethernet switch with eight 10/100Mb ports. It is designed to eliminate unnecessary traffic and reduce congestion by providing dedicated bandwidth to each of the eight ports. The DES-1008D can be implemented alongside multiple high-speed servers to share bandwidth at 10Mbps or 100Mbps in workgroups. With a maximum bandwidth of 200Mbps (100Mbps in full-duplex mode), any port can provide workstations with a congestion-free data pipeline to access the server simultaneously.
The DES-1008D combines dynamic memory allocation with store-and-forward routing to ensure that buffer is efficiently allocated to each port while controlling the flow of data between transmit and receive nodes to prevent any possible packet loss.
