Doctor Who - Series 9 [DVD] [2015]

Last Christmas: Highly underrated, a solid 9/10.

The Magician's Apprentice: A strong season opener with some pacing issues, but the cast and storyline are excellent. Another 9/10.

The Witch's Familiar: Not as good as The Magician's Apprentice, but still worth watching. It does drag in certain parts though. A decent 5/10.

Under the Lake: A chilling base under siege story with well-developed characters and genuinely creepy ghosts. Feels like a horror movie at times. An impressive 9.5/10.

Before the Flood: Loses some of its creepiness, but still an enjoyable watch overall. The ghosts are still effective, even if they change locations. An 8.5/10.

The Girl Who Died: A fun adventure that is decently entertaining. A solid 5/10.

The Woman Who Lived: Doesn't live up to expectations and feels unnecessary. Only a 2/10 from me.

The Zygon Invasion: Fantastic Zygon story that is dark and creepy throughout. An engaging 8/10.

The Zygon Inversion: Difficult to comment on this one, it's a bit strange for my taste - a middling 5/10.

Sleep No More: Controversial among fans, but I personally love it despite its flaws. An enjoyable 8/10 from me.

Face the Raven: Decent episode that doesn't stand out too much - another average rating of 5/10.

Heaven Sent: Often praised by others, I found it slightly overrated but still worth watching - a solid 7/10 from me.

Hell Bent: Hard to put into words how disappointing this episode was for me - only deserves a lowly score of 0/10 in my opinion.

The Husbands of River Song : Just average for me - another middle-of-the-road rating of 5/10.

Series 9 may be pricier than previous series, but it offers more value with seven discs and additional bonus material. The larger case features individual "pages" for each disc. On the other hand, Series 10 is currently priced at £20.99, so it might be worth waiting for a potential price drop. As someone who isn't a fan of the latest Doctor, I plan to eventually complete my collection with the Series 10 boxed set.
