Comments & Ratings about this product
This comment is about the movie "Rise of the Footsoldier," which tells the story of Carlton Leach, a former football hooligan and gangland heavyweight. The commenter thought it was a good movie overall but wasn't impressed with Terry Stone's portrayal of Tony Tucker. They agreed with Carlton's statement in the film that he looked like the Honey Monster and didn't think he fit the role well. However, they thought Ricci Harnett did a good job as Carlton Leach and Graig Fairbrass was excellent as Pat Tate. They also mentioned good performances from Roland Manookian, Billy Murray, and Frank Harper. Overall, they recommend watching it if you enjoy British gangster films.
I've always believed that this film has its merits and shouldn't be disregarded as mindless violence. While it may not be the pinnacle of British gangster films like "Get Carter," "Villain," or anything with Bob Hoskins, it does offer plenty of intense action and straightforward language that might offend some viewers. This places the film in a specific category, but it excels within that genre and can be seen as a guilty pleasure. Unfortunately, this 2-disc version lacks English subtitles, which is disappointing considering the heavy East End accents featured in the film.
