The device is functioning effectively, although I haven't confirmed if the drive I installed is operating at 6gbps. However, it appears to be performing at least as quickly as a USB 3.1 gen 1. I might need to open it up to address a minor rattling sound coming from the 15mm thick drive inside.
Although it may be expensive, this caddy is definitely worth the investment. I previously replaced the DVD drive in my older laptop with a 2tb hard drive using this caddy. The only drawback was that the drive was too tall to fit in most laptops. However, when I tried to use the same caddy in my new laptop, I realized that it was slightly slimmer and wouldn't fit properly. Not wanting to waste the storage capacity of my 2tb hard drive, I decided to give this caddy a try.
I'm happy to report that it exceeded my expectations. This caddy is well-made and sturdy, making it easy to take apart and install your hard drive into. Unlike other models, there are no springs or pads to hold your drive in place; instead, you can securely bolt it onto the inner chassis of the caddy. Additionally, it has a sleek design and functions flawlessly.
To top it off, this product even comes with spare screws for added convenience. Overall, I highly recommend this caddy as an excellent solution for maximizing storage space in your laptop.
