A fantastic book that really helped me understand how my mind works and why sometimes I find myself arguing with myself. It has also helped me to have a much better sense of empathy towards others, as I can now understand why people sometimes react negatively or aggressively. If you want to understand why you or those around you do not always make the best decisions, I can recommend that you read this!

The few good points discussed in this book could have been dealt with in a couple of short paragraphs. The rest was waffle and quite condescending. A pity because the waffle devalues the few and distant small jewels hidden beneath the unnecessary padding I had to force myself to order and unfortunately I would not recommend it.

It's a good read, but from the reviews I expected it to be fantastic, and to be honest, it is not. I have surrendered in half. In my opinion, he has the good theory that we all have this chimpanzee inside us, and we must control it. This creeps throughout the book. Maybe it's me, but I get a little bored.

Extremely interesting reading. I would recommend that everyone read it to better understand how their brains work and better understand human behavior

It's a book to grit your teeth, change my life for the better. First I loaded it on Kindle. Then I got 2 pocket copies one for me and one as a gift. If you have time to wait, I would recommend a paper copy. I found this easier for high light and for reeds chapters. From my chimpanzee and my human ... I hope you enjoy!

Painful to read I could not even finish it. All the condescending nonsense. The biggest disappointment is that so many people gave it such a high score that it prompted me to buy it! It is repetitive and silly.

I love the paradox of the chimpanzee. I have recommended it to people many times. A really simple way to understand our brains and our way of thinking. I love my "chimpanzee", whom I called Derek, but making jokes aside it has been useful for my life to understand if I am making a decision based on logic or emotion and although Derek's emotions can often appear, I have learned to think things through and think more logically before letting my emotions take over. I can not recommend this enough. What I will say is that it can take several takes or readings to enter it, BUT when the time comes, it will get it and I promise it will be worth it. I love a kindle version, but I would recommend buying it as a real book, since then you can take notes or highlight them and return to them again and again ...

Really enjoying the book so far. Steve Peters has written a book that is applicable to all of us and offers multiple scenarios to help readers understand the message behind the book and how to practice what is preached. Particularly interesting for anyone who enjoys psychology. There is a bit of 'waffle' at times, but in general it is a very interesting reading that is applicable and provides useful and practical advice: I would recommend it to anyone who wants to understand how to better manage their mind and do what they want. to do, but I do not know how!

I was not sure about this book when I bought it, but now I think it's brilliant. With his explanation of the 'Computer', 'Chimpanzee' and 'Human' parts of our brains and how they interact, he has perfect sense of the things that have confused and frustrated me for years. It deals with many different areas of our lives and shows how by not understanding and containing the 'Chimpanzee' part of our brains we make our lives much more difficult ... and those of the people we interact with. I have not yet reached the end of the book, but it has already helped me to understand certain situations and to alleviate daily annoyances. I think it's absolutely brilliant.

I have not finished yet. I agree with the idea that we all have a "primitive internal chimpanzee" that sometimes explodes. After the first two chapters it starts to be repetitive, which I think is the reason why I get bored now and I struggle to finish it

My doctor recommended this to my husband, who was having depressed moods and anxiety. He had read some chapters and now I am reading it. He can recognize himself in much of what he is trying to convey. It will be updated again. Easy to read

It took a few chapters to get into this book, but soon I got into it and it was hard for me to quit. A lot makes sense about how we think sometimes and how we can see things differently in the future so that we can be happier and happier with life. Recommended reading!

I chose this classification because the book was easy for me to read and understand. I found the theory extremely useful and realistic enough to apply to my own experiences and I would definitely recommend it to anyone struggling to control their emotions and why they can react in certain ways and how they can better control their behavior.

First I heard this as an audio book and then I bought a hard copy, since I enjoyed it a lot. It is a really accessible book about human nature and how to manage your chimpanzee. Offers ideas from CBT, compassion centered approaches and Mindfulness. Well worth reading.

I do not really read much, but I read this TWICE. I suffer from PTSD and most of the side effects of that. This helps to give a basic and applicable approach to the way the human brain works. Even if you do not have mental health problems, if you know someone or, more importantly, you are a people manager. READ THIS PLEASE, he bought one for me and friend!
