Comments & Ratings about this product
I really enjoyed watching this film that takes a look at life before easy access to nudity and porn. Steve Coogan's performance as Paul Raymond was excellent and very convincing, especially considering it was a role he had always wanted to play. Imogen Poots stood out as Debbie, Raymond's favorite daughter, portraying a mix of vulnerability, insecurity, and unwavering devotion to her father. My favorite scene was when she managed to get her depressed dad out of bed for some fun 'dad dancing' in Soho. The soundtrack was good, although somewhat predictable. Anna Friel and Tamsin Egerton also delivered strong supporting performances, and there were many witty but natural improvised moments throughout the film that added to its sentimental journey through central London.
A compelling portrayal of the intriguing lives of Paul and Deborah Raymond, filled with wealth, excitement, but also darkness. Steve Coogan effectively captures the charm and complexities of Paul Raymond. However, the film also delves into the significant roles played by the women in Raymond's life, with Imogen Poots and Anna Friel adding depth and emotion to an otherwise mundane narrative about a successful property mogul and pornographer in Soho. Personally, having experienced London in the 80s, I can't help but feel nostalgic for the vibrant atmosphere that once defined Soho.
