Comments & Ratings about this product
I recently started using this book and I am really impressed so far. The instructions for making purees are simple and easy to follow. It has given me a lot of confidence in preparing food for my baby and has made the weaning process enjoyable. I have stocked up on various fruits and vegetables, filling our fridge with little bags of ice cubes. This book was recommended to me by other moms, and I have already been recommending it to others who are nervous about starting solids.
However, if you prefer ready-made meals over food preparation, you may find this book time-consuming. In that case, buying ready-made baby foods might be more suitable for you. But if you enjoy cooking and preparing fresh foods, this book is great. It does offer some advice on what foods to avoid, but as the title suggests, it mainly focuses on recipes rather than providing extensive information on the weaning process itself.
I was given a copy of this book when my son was very young. I loved it so much that I ended up buying my own copy. Now, my one-year-old is happy and healthy, and he eats a wide variety of foods like fruits, vegetables, chicken, beef, fish, and lamb. This book is incredibly easy to follow, starting from introducing first flavors all the way up to 12 months. The recipes are simple and only require a hand blender or basic food processor. Even though my little boy has moved on from purees, he still enjoys many of the recipes (I just chop them instead). Some dishes are so delicious (especially My First Beef Casserole) that I make them for myself and my husband as well. We're now ready to start exploring toddler foods, but if you're just beginning the weaning process and want to cook your own baby food, I highly recommend this book.
My sister introduced me to this amazing resource. When your little one is around 6 months old and ready to try new foods, just follow the simple instructions in recipe 1 and freeze each puree as you go through the book. It's become a go-to gift for my loved ones with newborns.
