Dune

Dune is a science fiction novel by Frank Herbert, first published in 1965. It tells the story of a young man named Paul Atreides who becomes embroiled in a power struggle over the desert planet Arrakis, also known as Dune. The planet is the only source of melange, or "spice," a rare and valuable substance that extends human lifespan and enables interstellar travel.

The novel follows Paul as he navigates political intrigue, betrayal, and warfare in his quest to avenge his father's death and reclaim Arrakis from the Harkonnens, who have seized control of the planet. Along the way, he must earn the trust of the native Fremen people and lead them in a rebellion against the vast forces arrayed against them.
