I haven't read the book, so I can't compare it to the adaptation. However, as a fan of Stephen King, I always give his adaptations a fair chance. Unfortunately, I struggled to understand the basic premise of saving Kennedy from Oswald since he was already assassinated. This left me feeling frustrated and somewhat angry, although I may be more at fault for not grasping the concept than King himself. The story seemed to have many plot holes that were hard to overlook. Despite this, the actors did a great job and the pacing was fast-paced. The extra content also sounded interesting. Overall, it's a unique experience worth trying out, but personally didn't work for me.
After reading the book, I must admit that the DVD version was somewhat disappointing. It seems that whenever a Stephen King novel is adapted for the screen, unnecessary changes are made. This was evident in "The Stand". However, despite this, the DVD was still well-made and had excellent performances. It managed to capture enough of the story to be coherent.
