This contemporary adaptation of Shakespeare's comedy is the finest I've ever witnessed. Maxine Peake delivers an astonishing performance as Titania, while John Hannah excels as Theseus and Matt Lucas brings hilarity to the role of Bottom, alongside other exceptional actors. Created in honor of Shakespeare's 400-year anniversary, this film maintains the essence of his play while incorporating modern elements like gadgets. The dialogue is delivered with precision and occasionally adds a fresh twist to traditional character interpretations. Absolutely love it!
The production is entertaining, but it deviates too much from the original for educational purposes. The unexpected scene with Titania and Theseus may be entertaining for some, but if you're looking to use this DVD as a teaching tool, I suggest getting The Globe 2014 version instead.
