"A Squash and a Squeeze" is a delightful picture book written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler. The story follows a little old lady who lives in a tiny house that is far too small for her. Desperate for more space, she turns to a wise old man for advice. He tells her to bring all of the animals from his farm into her house.
At first, the little old lady is hesitant, but she decides to take the wise old man's advice and brings in a flock of noisy chickens, a pair of messy pigs, a grumpy goat, a lazy cow, and even a hungry horse. The animals quickly fill up her small house, making it feel even more cramped than before.
But the little old lady follows the wise old man's instructions and waits patiently for the animals to leave. When they finally do, she is amazed at how much bigger her house feels. She has learned that sometimes you have to let things in before you can truly appreciate what you already have.
This edition of "A Squash and a Squeeze" features a beautiful new cover design and a high-quality finish, making it a must-have addition to any child's bookshelf. Fans of Donaldson and Scheffler will also enjoy their other popular picture books, including "The Gruffalo," "The Gruffalo's Child," "Room on the Broom," "The Snail and the Whale," "The Smartest Giant in Town," "Monkey Puzzle," and "Charlie Cook's Favourite Book."

My grandson absolutely loves Julia Donaldson books, and this one is definitely a new favorite alongside "The Gruffalo" and "The Snail and the Whale."
My toddler and I absolutely love this book. It teaches both adults and children the importance of having a new perspective to appreciate what we already have. The rhyming and verse structures are unique compared to Julia Donaldson's other popular works, which is great for young kids who enjoy repetition. The illustrations by Scheffler are once again perfect, and my daughter enjoys pointing out the animals in the book. Initially, I didn't find the story as exciting or imaginative as others in Donaldson's collection, but it grew on me with each reading, and now it has become one of our favorite books!
