Annabelle [DVD] [2014]

I've been a fan of the Saw films since day one, so I have purchased most movies connected to the production company, including this one. While I was really impressed with The Conjuring, I had higher expectations for this film. In my opinion, the story is less believable and scary compared to its predecessor.

What truly scares me is that Annabelle, as a doll, has a chilling real-life backstory. Even though the doll in the film doesn't resemble the original doll kept safe in a cabinet at the Warrens' house (as seen in The Conjuring), I still find it terrifying. The designers did an excellent job creating such a creepy doll for the movie! Whenever the doll appears on screen, I always anticipate something dreadful happening.

I also heard negative comments about this film, but I found it to be well-executed despite following a familiar formula. The actors, particularly the lead actress, delivered strong performances and there were moments that genuinely scared me. Additionally, the film managed to surprise me by not always following predictable patterns. Overall, it was a polished production that kept me engaged until the early hours of the morning. In my opinion, a good film is one that I enjoy watching, and this one definitely met that criteria for me.
