I haven't listened to this album yet, but I wanted to share my thoughts with those who are critical of Bryan Ferry. If you think he's past his prime, you should have seen him and his amazing band perform at De Montfort Hall in Leicester last night. They played a mix of classic hits and new, powerful songs that convinced me to buy this album. And just so you know, the "old" songs sounded just as incredible live as they always have. Just thought I'd mention it...
This album is truly the best work he has ever produced, surpassing even Manifesto. The music will make you want to dance and the songs have a familiar bittersweet quality, but in this album they blend seamlessly with the music. The melodies perfectly complement his signature bitter voice, almost like a sick man regaining his health. If you've been a loyal fan of Ferry throughout the years, prepare to be amazed by this exceptional album.
At 70 years old, Mr. Ferry continues to impress audiences with his live performances. His latest album, Avonmore, features 8 original songs that are consistently excellent, along with 2 remarkable cover songs to close the album. Fans of Ferry's polished and romantic solo work or late-Roxy music will highly appreciate this album. While it may remind listeners of Avalon at times, this is a positive aspect as the quality of the music is exceptional.
