Many people criticized this because it didn't live up to the original film. However, I personally enjoyed it as it was representative of the era, similar to popular shows like The A Team, Knightrider, and Street Hawk. The storylines were entertaining and the characters grew on me over time. Overall, it's a decent choice for fans of techno sci-fi.
This spin-off from the film is fantastic, featuring a talented cast and thrilling action scenes. The highlight is definitely the impressive helicopter, equipped with powerful weaponry.
Blue Thunder was a popular movie that featured Roy Schneider as a skilled helicopter pilot. The film showcased the chopper, which was based on the fast Airospaite Gazelle model, but unfortunately, it was destroyed due to its misuse as a dangerous weapon. The success of the movie led to a TV series being commissioned by Universal Pictures in 1983, with James Farentino taking over as the lead character. The series focused on various air-based threats and ran for only 11 episodes before being canceled in 1984. It is speculated that the competition from "Airwolf," which had a longer run of four seasons, contributed to its cancellation. However, despite this setback, Blue Thunder is still an enjoyable alternative for fans of Airwolf.
