I initially purchased this series because of David Tennant, but I was pleasantly surprised by how compelling it is on its own. The characters truly bring the story to life, particularly with their close-knit community and the devastating impact of a young boy's death. While it could have delved deeper into the negative effects of irresponsible media reporting, I appreciate that it maintained a balanced storytelling approach. The only issue I had was with the ending, which felt somewhat contrived despite being foreshadowed throughout. However, overall Broadchurch tackles thought-provoking topics with sensitivity and deserves a spot on my "to watch again" list. Even knowing the outcome, there are enough moments of excellence to make it worth rewatching.
