While it's often hailed as a classic, I have some major issues with this movie. The school pupil characters are poorly developed and come across as one-dimensional cliches, which is frustrating to watch. I understand that the intention was to contrast Carrie's innocence with their crassness, but it was executed in such a heavy-handed way that it almost ruins the film. Additionally, the storyline is drawn out and lacks depth, making it rather mundane and uninteresting. On a positive note, Carrie herself is a likable protagonist and you can't help but empathize with her situation (even if it is somewhat superficial). The ending is satisfying and well-crafted, particularly the memorable moment when she undergoes her transformation - those eyes! Overall, I find the movie mean-spirited and outdated, but effective in showcasing Carrie's abilities. It's a 3/5 film for me.
It's been a while since I last saw Carrie, but I recently added another Stephen King movie to my collection. The price wasn't too bad, so I definitely recommend watching it.
