Comments & Ratings about this product
The film opens with authentic, grainy footage of the Nazis capturing and killing Jews in Belarus in 1941. It then portrays the courageous fight back of the three Bielski brothers as they lead a growing group of Jewish escapees into the safety of the forest. The story focuses on their struggle to survive amidst scarce food and freezing winter conditions, making this fact-based drama an intense tale of resilience.
I was thrilled when I heard about a new WW2 film coming out. I enjoy watching movies about this era, as long as they don't overly focus on American perspectives. Fortunately, this film did not fall into that trap. With talented actors like Daniel Craig, it definitely adds to the appeal and quality of the movie.
The plot takes place during the second world war, with Nazi forces wreaking havoc across Europe by targeting Jews and anyone who opposes Hitler's Aryan race ideology. The Bielski sons manage to escape being killed, but unfortunately their parents do not survive. They seek refuge in the woods and face constant danger from the Nazis who are hunting down Jews. As time goes on, they gather more survivors and establish a large camp.
The story revolves around Tuvia, the oldest brother, and Zus, the second oldest brother. They have differing opinions on how to handle their parents' deaths - Tuvia seeks revenge by killing the local secret police boss while Zus believes there should be even more bloodshed against Nazis.
Overall, I give this film 5 stars because it has an engaging storyline and well-suited actors. It is a must-watch for history enthusiasts!
