I bought this book with some knowledge of statistics but no experience in R. I have to admit that the author's writing style is a bit tiresome. The constant use of slightly inappropriate language reminds me of children trying to shock adults. However, it seems like there are people who enjoy it since the book sells well.
My main issue with the book is that it focuses heavily on social science examples, which makes it difficult for me as a physical scientist to find relevant content. Additionally, the size of the book makes it inconvenient to carry around for quick programming references.
Overall, I would say this book is just okay and not great. There might be room for another author to try their hand at writing a more suitable alternative for different audiences.
