This film is a classic and one of my all-time favorite musicals. My sister and I used to enjoy watching it together. Recently, I ordered a copy to include in an Easter basket filled with gifts for my sister, nephew, and niece. My sister was absolutely thrilled to have her own personal copy of this amazing film!
I absolutely adore any film featuring Peter Lawford. I also have a strong admiration for Judy Garland, although I am not particularly fond of Fred Astaire. This movie is truly fantastic if you enjoy musicals. Astaire's character is dumped by his original dance partner and embarks on a search for a new one. Enter Garland, who instantly falls in love with him, while he believes he is still in love with his former partner. Meanwhile, Lawford's character is hopelessly in love with Garland but doesn't stand a chance. It's the same old story - girl gets boy - with plenty of music sprinkled throughout. My favorite part is when Garland and Lawford sing "I'm Just a Fella Fella With an Umbrella." Lawford was a star back then and still remains one today; I adored him in Little Women, although it seems he hasn't had much luck with his leading ladies. He was the epitome of a heartthrob. As for Garland's performance, she brings great fun, wit, and natural talent to the screen.
