I absolutely love this dramatization! If you're a fan of Hugh Dancy, you'll be blown away by it. It's split into two parts and I just got the Blu-ray version. The actors are incredibly talented and professional. It's like a captivating book that you can't stop reading!
I purchased this DVD because I remembered watching the original TV series years ago and finally decided to buy a copy. The acting, particularly Helen Mirren's performance, was still excellent. However, I was surprised to find that the DVD edition included very graphic scenes that were clearly censored from the original broadcast. While these scenes accurately depicted the raw nature of Tudor times, they were not necessary to such a prominent degree in this production. On a positive note, the digitally recreated Tudor landscapes were impressive and continue to hold up well upon repeated viewings.
