Jodorowsky's latest film, a follow-up to The Dance of Reality, delves into his adolescence and young adulthood as he navigates a world filled with poetry and self-discovery. This vibrant and imaginative work combines elements of film, mime, and art to create a surrealistic portrayal of the director's own experiences. The characters in the film are larger than life, exploring profound themes such as the meaning of life, the value of art, finding one's true self, sex, and death. With stunning cinematography by Christopher Doyle and an enchanting soundtrack, this 87-year-old director showcases an unparalleled lust for life. While some may find the film indulgent at times, I personally preferred The Dance of Reality slightly more. Nonetheless, I am grateful that Jodorowsky continues to make artistic and meaningful films that remind us of cinema's potential for creativity.
This film is a stunning masterpiece for those who can truly appreciate art and poetry. However, it may not be suitable for individuals seeking a more conventional viewing experience.
