Comments & Ratings about this product
I had heard great things about From Hell, and I can confidently say it is one of the finest graphic novels I have ever read. It is truly a masterpiece, even though I have read it twice and know there are still many subtle details that elude me.
Alan Moore's influence on the comic medium is unparalleled. His ability to convey depth and complexity surpasses that of traditional books and even pulp comics. From Hell, like his other groundbreaking works, takes readers on a chilling journey through Victorian decadence, masonic tradition, madness, corruption, and social change. While it may be a lengthy read at times, Moore elevates the Jack the Ripper murders from a mere notorious killing spree to a pivotal moment in history that propelled the Western world into modernity. This dark and unmissable masterpiece showcases Moore's genius.
Firstly, this graphic novel is massive and impressive. Every aspect of it is exceptional - the ideas explored, such as violence, ritual, sexuality, and current events, provide a fresh perspective on our society. Moore once again proves himself to be a genius. The historical notes at the beginning of each chapter add depth to the story. It's evident that Moore conducted extensive research on architecture, history, investigation, conspiracy theories, and religious history for this book. His ability to seamlessly incorporate all these elements into an engaging and captivating narrative is truly mind-blowing. I absolutely adore this piece of work and highly recommend it.
