Joni Mitchell: Both Sides Now

As a devoted fan of Joni's music, I must admit that she doesn't always come across as likeable in her personal interactions. Sometimes, her confidence can be mistaken for arrogance and she often sees herself as an outsider and underappreciated genius. While her commitment to honesty in her art is admirable, it can make her seem blunt when expressing her opinions about others. Despite these flaws, I find her interviews to be consistently fascinating and she possesses a complex character. Overall, this coffee table book is well-presented and would have been perfect if not for a major printing error - the final page of text was duplicated on facing pages. It's unfortunate because the quality of the book is otherwise excellent.

If you enjoy reading interviews, you might find this one interesting. However, the disconnected stories in it come across as self-indulgent. Despite my love for Joni Mitchell, I didn't gain a deeper understanding of her after finishing the book. Personally, I believe there are better books out there with more effective formats.
