Compared to the DVD version or an old video, watching this film on Blu-Ray offers a much clearer and more detailed experience. The film stock used for the transfer is often improved beforehand, resulting in a high-quality copy. To determine if this film is worth buying, I recommend searching online for 2 or 3 reviews by experienced film reviewers. Everyone's taste in films differs, so it's important to make your own judgment. Personally, I have watched around 600 films and own over 200 Blu-Rays. I would rate this particular film as an 8 out of 10.
David Attenborough's narration in this film is not as captivating as in his later works, such as "The Blue Planet". However, there are still plenty of wonderful and sometimes amazing moments showcasing the animal world. The downside for me is that the blue-ray conversion results in a 'sandy' effect on the picture, making the DVD version more enjoyable to watch. If you already have the DVD version, there is no need to purchase the blu-ray. But if you're interested, I recommend trying it out first.
David Attenborough is a modern-day Darwin and this series was one of the first to explore the origins and evolution of life on Earth. He is highly respected by nature lovers, including myself, and his popularity has led to many similar programs still being produced today. Despite being around 40 years old, David, who is only around 50 in the series, engages in physically demanding activities like climbing trees, riding horseback, exploring jungles, and diving. The picture quality is in the old 4:3 format with vibrant colors but suffers from graininess during darker scenes. Compared to more recent series, it may be lacking at times in terms of visual quality. However, the exceptional content of the program more than compensates for this drawback.
