David Jason's early series are highly enjoyable and definitely worth watching. The standout performance for me is Glynn Edwards as the girlfriend's father.

It's unfortunate that this show only had one season. The character Bernard, played by David Jason, struggles with women while his brother Randolph, portrayed by Peter Armitage, is a player. Bernie has feelings for Kath, but she is more interested in Randolph (or Randy). Each date with Kath ends in failure and Bernie's love life seems to be a series of disasters. This show was before David Jason became the household name he is today, but watching it makes it clear why he achieved such success.

This is David Jason's best work on ITV, but it evokes sympathy for him. The main focus is Shorty, similar to Granville from Open All Hours, constantly making unsuccessful attempts to impress women. Despite inconvenient circumstances, he mistakenly believes he is succeeding with Kathleen Peake. Unfortunately, she is more interested in his brother who does not reciprocate her feelings and dislikes her. Shorty remains completely unaware of this situation. Although I was annoyed by the final episode, I won't give away any spoilers. Overall, this comedy is highly enjoyable.
