This introduction to the film is well done, especially for fans of 'La Diva'. However, it is still worth watching even if you are not familiar with the movie.
Pasolini's film is a masterpiece, showcasing his magnificent and panoramic vision of the mythic source of Euripides' tragedy. Callas delivers a remarkable performance in the title role, particularly as the film approaches its shocking and inevitable conclusion.
, you will appreciate this film even more. It showcases the incredible talent and stage presence of one of opera's greatest divas. Although there may be a lack of powerful music vocals in this particular production, the overall production and stage craft are exceptional. It is unfortunate that only a limited number of this remarkable woman's performances were captured on film or video. If you already own Callas' opera recording of Medea, watching this film will provide an even deeper appreciation for her artistry.
