This remastered 2CD set of the original album and Mad Professor dub remix album is fantastic. However, be cautious as the black discs are extremely delicate and tend to skip easily. Even the slightest blemish can cause skipping issues. I personally experienced this problem with CD2, which would not play through without skipping 99% of the time. I obtained a replacement but encountered the same issue with CD1. Eventually, I kept the best discs from both sets and returned the ones that skipped. It's important to thoroughly listen to them before the return period expires. Additionally, while black discs may look sleek, they can be a costly mistake for someone who encounters skipping problems.
I won't be reviewing Mezzanine, as most fans of Massive Attack are already familiar with this classic album. Instead, I'll focus on the vinyl release. This double album features 180gm records that sound great, capturing the memorable bass you love (even on small speakers like my Wharfedale 9.0s). However, I was slightly disappointed by the packaging. I expected a gatefold design, but instead, the two records are placed in their inner sleeves next to each other in the jacket. It's a shame considering it's a two-disc offering. Overall, I give the album 5 stars but deduct one star for this vinyl release. Nevertheless, it still sounds amazing!
