Comments & Ratings about this product
Despite a few errors, this book is excellently written. It is a great choice for those preparing for the OCA exam. The three online practice tests are very helpful, slightly more challenging than the actual exam but they ensure thorough preparation. I personally read it twice and successfully passed the exam on my first attempt with a score of 90%.
Before purchasing this book, I had already read two introductory Java books: "Java in easy steps" and "Java in 24 hours". Currently, I am halfway through this book and I highly recommend reading a couple of introductory books before diving into it. Understanding the structure of a program and familiarizing myself with various code features proved to be extremely helpful in comprehending the content of this book. The previous books taught me how to build specific programs and provided useful snippets of code, while this book delves into the rules and intricacies of coding, enabling me to create my own programs from scratch and identify or avoid errors. The writing style is excellent, and the questions included are designed to challenge your understanding of how the code truly functions. I definitely recommend this book, and hopefully, I will be taking the exam soon.
