This series is fantastic. Douglas Wilmer perfectly embodies Sherlock Holmes, resembling the character from the Strand Magazine. Nigel Stock also does an excellent job as Watson. The acting is consistently top-notch. Unlike many modern shows and movies, the dialogue is clear and easy to understand; I didn't need subtitles at all. From a technical standpoint, there are occasional shaky sets due to budget constraints compared to the later Jeremy Brett version, but this is a minor issue in my opinion. I titled this review 'A bittersweet joy' because unfortunately only a few episodes of the original series were preserved.
