Street Fighting Years Box Set

'Street Fighting Years', initially released in May 1989, was produced by Trevor Horn (and Stephen Lipson) and marked Simple Minds' eighth studio album. Recorded in Scotland between the years of 1988 and 1989 during a period of changes in the band's lineup, this album signified a departure from their earlier sound. While continuing to maintain their signature arena rock sound, the band distanced itself from the soul influences present in their previous work and adopted a new celtic/folk sound. The lyrics of 'Street Fighting Years' expanded upon the political themes introduced by the band on 'Ghost Dancing', touching upon topics such as the poll tax, the Irish 'Troubles', and political activists including Nelson Mandela and Steven Biko. The box set edition includes the original studio album on disc 1, a selection of b-sides and remixes on disc 2, and the band's live concert in Verona, Italy on discs 3 and 4.
