Tarzan [DVD] [1999]

I personally don't typically enjoy Disney movies, with the exception of Tarzan, Mulan, Lion King 1/2, Bugs Life and the Toy Story franchise. However, I am thrilled to finally own Tarzan on Blu-ray. The picture quality and sound are outstanding, matching the excellence of the film itself. Additionally, there are some great bonus features included and the price was very reasonable. In my opinion, this movie is among the best in Disney's collection. I highly recommend it.

I purchased this DVD as an Easter gift for my son, who is a big fan of Disney movies. After bath time, he likes to sit in his bouncer and watch them with us. Since we didn't have this particular movie and hadn't seen it before, I decided to give it a try. To our delight, my son absolutely loved it! He especially enjoys the opening scene with baby Tarzan and the mummy Gorilla, often giggling at their interactions. It's a film that all of us enjoyed watching together and don't mind watching repeatedly. The vibrant songs and colors captivate my son's attention and even help soothe him on difficult days or during teething. I highly recommend this movie, especially if you have young children to enjoy it with too.

This movie is a hit in my book thanks to the great story, animation, and songs by Phil Collins. I've watched it twice with my daughter since it arrived and we've had a blast doing the Tarzan call together. It brings back memories of watching Johnny Wisemuller with my dad. Disney really nails it when they get everything right - not just with a great story, but also with messages about honesty, love, family, and other life lessons. Sometimes you forget that it's just an animation because it feels so real. The film has moments of fun, laughter, and sadness but overall maintains an upbeat tempo. It's not dark at all, so my three-year-old was really happy watching this. Definitely worth adding to any Disney collection!
