I had such a joyful experience rewatching this series. The edited version, which lasts over an hour, was truly enjoyable. It's definitely worth the investment as you also receive a booklet to complement the 2 DVD set. Give it a watch and let those cherished childhood memories come rushing back to you.
I'm excited that the Thin Man series is now available on DVD. When I watched it in school back in '81, I was absolutely terrified of the Thin Man, especially since we had just moved near a forest where some of the scenes took place. I was convinced that he would come after me while I slept. It got so bad that I would beg my mother to take us to busy places with lots of lights. Now, I've bought a copy for my young nieces for Christmas and I'm curious if they'll find him as scary as I did back then!
The item was brand new and still sealed, with a perfect disc. However, the program itself didn't quite match my childhood memories. It seems that my school may have omitted many of the scenes between the acted out story, which was frustrating as I had to constantly skip past irrelevant parts. Nevertheless, if you appreciate the additional content where they explore what was read, rather than just the acted out story, then you will thoroughly enjoy it.
