This film is incredibly captivating. It explores the dark side of violence through IRA characters, who unexpectedly protect a soldier's love interest after one of their own defects. The movie raises thought-provoking questions about our reactions and the lengths we would go for love. It's worth noting that this film was released around the same time as "Patriot Games," which also portrays the IRA, but they couldn't be more distinct in terms of storyline and tone.
After watching Adrian Dunbar perform in Belfast with Dervish at the music festival, we were motivated to explore his filmography. Surprisingly, this particular film was not as violent as anticipated, which was a relief. However, it still managed to captivate us with its intriguing storyline and commendable performances by Stephen Rea and the rest of the cast. Although it felt slightly outdated, this aspect also brought some comfort. If it had been produced more recently, there is a possibility that it would have contained more graphic content, which personally would have deterred me from enjoying it fully.
