This book is both sweet and funny as the crayons write letters to the boy explaining why they quit. Some feel overused, while others feel ignored. They even argue about which crayon is best for coloring in certain things, like whether the sun should be colored with yellow or orange! Young children will enjoy having this book read to them, while older children can benefit from practicing their reading skills with the longer letters.

The illustrations in this book are stunning and the story is clever. After reading this book, my 6-year-old was inspired to create vibrant drawings, and I found myself just as engrossed in the story as he was.
