Theatre and extended subtitles are available for all three films. In the story, Bilbo Baggins is coerced by Gandalf the Grey Wizard to join an adventure with dwarfs to reclaim their homeland from Smaug the Dragon. They face challenges such as battling goblins and spiders along the way. Meanwhile, other leaders of Middle Earth like Saruman, Elrond, Radagast, and Galadriel realize that evil is awakening in Mirkwood where Sauron is regaining his strength alongside the Nazgul. The film adaptation expands on the original book's content, particularly in depicting the Battle of the Five Armies which receives more attention. There are no additional extras included with this release.
I have read the books, starting with LotR and eventually getting to The Hobbit. I have watched each film multiple times, both in theaters and on various formats like DVD, Blu-ray, and now on this 4k set. Playing them on my OLED TV through a Sony 4k player almost made me feel like I was there at times. The picture quality is incredibly clear and the perspectives feel almost real.
I purchased this item during Black Friday, although it wasn't heavily discounted. I encountered several issues, such as my debit card being cancelled while using it abroad. It took almost three weeks to receive the item from South Korea. However, upon opening it, I was thrilled to find that it was in perfect condition with no scratches. The movie sound quality was excellent, thanks to Dolby Atmos. It made even mediocre movies sound good. Additionally, the video quality was also impressive.
