This film is gripping from start to finish, immersing you in the overwhelming despair and devastation of the events. The storyline keeps you on edge, making you believe that there might be a positive outcome. It skillfully transitions between hopelessness and moments of relief. It's important to remember that this story is based on true events, as it would be challenging for any writer to capture such intense hopelessness without alienating their audience.
I was aware of the terrible situation in Thailand. We had plans to travel there from New Zealand, but changed our destination to Bali instead after hearing about the disaster. It wasn't until we returned to the UK three weeks later that we fully understood the extent of the devastation. The experience must have been horrifying for both locals and tourists, and it's incredible how the country managed to cope with such a catastrophe and receive foreign aid. Even though this film provides some insight into the horror they endured, I can't truly imagine what it was like for those affected by the tsunami. Every time I hear about it, even years later, I can't help but think about how I could have been there experiencing that tragedy or worse - losing my life. And what about those who did go through it? Surviving, losing loved ones...the impact on them is unimaginable. The magnitude of this tragedy is still beyond my comprehension.
