Astronaut Mark Watney never expected that one day he would be stranded on Mars. He was part of a crew of six on a mission to the Red Planet to conduct scientific experiments. But when a severe sandstorm hit, they had to scramble to safety and fled back to base. But when they got there, Mark had disappeared.

After some time, it turned out that Mark had been lost in the storm and was stranded on Mars. He was alone, with no food, water or means of communication. He had only his scientific equipment and his own creativity to survive.

Mark had to come up with some creative solutions to survive. He had to find a way to get water, produce food, and establish a communication link to Earth. He also had to find a way to survive the extreme temperatures on Mars.

But Mark was an experienced astronaut and he had strong willpower. He managed to overcome all these challenges and eventually survived more than a year on Mars. He even managed to establish a communication link with Earth and call for help.

Eventually, Mark was rescued by a rescue mission and brought back to Earth. His experiences on Mars have made him a hero and he has encouraged many people that they can survive even in difficult situations. His story is an example that with courage and creativity you can overcome even the most difficult challenges.

Rewritten comment:

Having watched the film, I found it to be overshadowed by this book. I genuinely hope that all the scientific aspects are accurate because I felt like I gained a wealth of knowledge. The concept of each crew member having two specialized subjects was brilliant and logical. Personally, I wouldn't have made it through such circumstances, but the protagonist definitely deserved to survive.
