I really enjoyed this show. It has elements similar to Taken and The 4400, but being French gives it a unique feel without the typical glossy Hollywood vibe. The actors are not all perfect and beautiful, which makes them relatable. The mountain setting is stunning, and I found it fascinating to see how the story and characters evolve with each episode. Some characters are more likable and sympathetic than others, such as Camille and Julie, while others like Serge are particularly loathsome. My wife and I had many discussions after each episode trying to decipher what was happening and its meaning, which speaks to the quality of the series in drawing us in and making us care about the characters. We're eagerly anticipating Season 2 to see how it further develops.
I have tested both a blu-ray player and a DVD player, but unfortunately, neither of them recognized the disc and were unable to play it. Both players are unlocked and capable of playing discs from various countries. I will attempt to purchase the content in a different format. It is disappointing because the price was excellent. Please note that my rating reflects the issue with the disc itself, not the supposed excellence of the series.
This series is truly one of the best I've seen, regardless of whether it's in English or a foreign film. The stunning backdrop of the French Alps adds to its beauty, with beautifully lit and shot scenes. The plot unfolds slowly and keeps you on the edge of your seat, while the characters' calm acceptance of uncomfortable developments adds to the gripping nature of the show. It's not just a sci-fi series; it's a drama/horror with incredible artistic filming, building tension, and masterful character development. Every character is worth investing in; there isn't one that I didn't care about. The soundtrack by Mogwai perfectly complements the dark tone of the series, making it as important as the lighting, writing, and acting. I've gifted this series to multiple people who have all given positive feedback - we all love it!
