This book has become a favorite for my daughter since she was very young, around 8 months old. We discovered it at our local BookStart club at the library. The repetitive language in the book makes it interesting and easy to remember for young children, which is great when we're out and about. The subtle humor at the end of the book adds to its appeal. Although the illustrations may be more suited for older children, it hasn't affected my daughter's enjoyment. She especially loves the dog that appears on every page and always points him out. While it may be slightly long for a baby, it's a perfect length from about 18 months onwards. We love this book so much that we have even bought copies for our nieces and nephews as well.
I purchased this book several months ago but never got around to reading it to my two daughters. However, about three months ago, we decided to give it a try and now it has become one of their favorites. They absolutely love the story and have memorized every page. The detailed illustrations and repetitive rhyme on each black and white page captivate them. I was initially concerned that they might be scared when we reached the part about the bear, but they actually found it amusing that a bear would chase you home. I highly recommend this book for children aged 5 and under. Despite having many books, my daughters always choose this one over others time after time.
