Dune Messiah

Dune Messiah, also known as Dune 2, is a science fiction novel written by Frank Herbert. It is the second book in The Dune series. The story takes place twelve years after Paul Atreides, the protagonist, has defeated House Harkonnen and become the emperor of the known universe. However, his victory has brought war to the entire universe, resulting in billions of deaths. Despite being the most powerful emperor ever, Paul is unable to stop the fighting.

As Paul's former allies plot against him and even his consort acts against him, he accepts a gift from the Tleilaxu, a guild of genetic manipulators, hoping to find some peace and friendship amidst the betrayal and chaos. However, this act undermines Paul's support from the Fremen, the people who are the true source of his power. Losing their support could mean the end of his empire.

As the situation escalates, Paul is forced to choose between his throne, his wife, his people, and the future of the entire universe. The novel explores themes of power, loyalty, and the consequences of one's actions. It is a thrilling and thought-provoking addition to The Dune series.
