I absolutely adore Michael Morpurgo's books, and this one is no different. It is hands down the best book I have ever read, especially during the Christmas season. Both of my grandchildren have adored it as well. The illustrations are simply brilliant and perfectly capture the essence of the story, making it enjoyable even for those who can't read yet. This book is an absolute must-have for any child's bookshelf.
The illustrations in this comment are stunning, and the interesting facts about bird migration make it even more engaging. However, some parts of the text were lovely while others felt a bit stiff.
I really like books written by this author because they are not condescending towards the reader, making them enjoyable for adults as well. Additionally, I believe that children would also benefit from reading these stories and discussing the events with others.
