The film is excessively slow-paced and the ending leaves much to be desired. Additionally, I found the lead character's development lacking as he behaves poorly in the beginning and then reverts back to that behavior 43 years later, with no explanation of what happened in between. Despite this, Edward Norton delivers an outstanding performance that unfortunately goes unnoticed in this film.
Norton and De Niro deliver outstanding performances, however, the plot feels peculiar and ultimately left me unsatisfied. Certain storylines appear important but end up going nowhere, leaving you confused about their purpose. It's challenging to rate due to the contrast between great acting and strange storytelling. I wouldn't eagerly rewatch it, making it below average in my opinion.
